Human Rights Mentorship Opportunity in Whitehorse, Yukon
Are you a youth interested in participating in a human rights mentorship program in June 2018?
Apply to be matched with a leader in a human rights field who will be facilitating and/or presenting at the Canadian Association of Statutory Human Rights Agencies (CASHRA) national human rights conference taking place June 26 & 27, 2018 in Whitehorse, Yukon. The theme of the conference is The Time is Now: Change and Innovation in Human Rights Today. (See the conference website for more information: www.yukonhumanrights.ca/cashra)
The mentorship will offer you an opportunity to connect and network directly with leaders in the field of human rights in Canada and to engage directly on current issues in human rights and equality. Through the mentorship, you will be able to learn about the field of human rights law and about possible career directions.
You will have an opportunity to attend the conference and related events for free, and be matched with a specific facilitator/speaker in advance of the conference. You will work with your assigned facilitator/speaker to plan for your involvement in their panel. You will get the opportunity to ‘shadow’ your mentor during the conference and ask them questions. We hope that you will gain valuable experience and knowledge, and build lasting connections.
Who should apply: Youth who are interested in human rights. We welcome applications from diverse youth of all abilities and backgrounds with a demonstrated interest in human rights. The conference is inclusive and willing to provide accommodation so all people can participate fully.
